How a move works
From the old building to the new one
-
1
Tell us about the move
Planning an office move? Tell us your move date, both addresses and roughly how many extinguishers you have. A floor plan of the new space helps if you have one.
-
2
We transport them
We take care of moving the extinguishers to the new location, so they aren't left rattling around in a box with the office supplies.
-
3
We position, secure and sign them
At the new site, each extinguisher is placed where the new layout needs it, secured on its bracket or in its cabinet, and marked with the right signage. The quote depends on how many extinguishers you have, how far they're going, and whether the new space needs more units, cabinets or signs.
New building, new rules
What changes when you move
Extinguishers that were placed correctly in the old space aren't automatically correct in the new one.
A different floor plan
Travel distance to the nearest extinguisher is measured on the new layout. More rooms, longer corridors or a bigger warehouse can mean you need more units.
Extinguisher salesDifferent walls
New corridors may call for semi-recessed or recessed cabinets, and new walls mean checking every mounting height again.
Cabinets and signageNew hazards
A new server closet, a lab bench or a flammable-liquid storage room changes which extinguisher type each area needs. We'll tell you if yours still fit.
Signs for the new layout
Racking, columns and corners hide extinguishers in new places. Signage goes where people will actually look for one.
Plan ahead
Use the move to get everything in date
A move is the easiest time to fix anything that’s drifted. When we have every extinguisher in hand, it’s simple to spot a unit that’s been discharged, lost pressure or is close to its 6-year service or hydrostatic test, rather than hanging it on a new wall and finding out later.
Under NFPA 10, every extinguisher in the new space still needs its monthly visual check and an annual inspection by a certified technician (in Massachusetts, a licensed company). We’ll tell you what it takes to keep the new site in compliance, and nothing more. See our annual inspection and testing and maintenance pages for the details.

You can carry them, but the new space still has to be laid out to code: the right number of units within travel distance, mounted at the right height, in the right cabinets, with signs where they're hidden from view. That's the part we take care of.
Yes. A unit can get knocked or partly discharged in transit. Before relying on it, check that the pin and tamper seal are intact and the gauge needle is in the green. If anything looks wrong, it needs an exchange or a closer look.
Maybe. It depends on the new floor area, the layout and any new hazards like a lab or server room. We'll tell you exactly what the new site needs to be in compliance.
Yes, as long as both buildings are in the cities and towns we serve across Eastern and Central Massachusetts. We work from our shop at 880 Main St. in Woburn. See every city and town we serve.
As soon as you have a move date. Call 978-365-9100 or send a request with both addresses and your extinguisher count, and we'll plan around your schedule.
